Pain and your Brain
When it comes to pain, especially chronic pain, Move out 0f Pain workshop is ideally placed to help to understand your pain in order to move out of it. Understanding that pain is not always a bad thing. It is important for our survival.
Unfortunately, the brain or pain perception in the brain sometimes gets its messages wrong and the pain experience ends up not reflecting the true physical state of the body. In these cases, an often helpful strategy is to try and break this pain circuit by introducing new stimuli to the nervous system. In the case of movement related pain, new and unique movements learnt under the facilitation of the expert movement physiotherapist Karen Mason can desensitise your nervous system and move you out of pain for good. The great news is that the brain is plastic and continuously remodelling itself, so these simple strategies can often go a long way with a little persistence and patience.
